What I remember is not the teacher’s face
but the orange cupboards, smell of graham crackers,
and her earnest statement:

“God is three people, but he is also just one person. It’s something we can’t understand.”

What she didn’t understand—or remember—is that

Three in One
and
One in Three

is simple calculus
for a five-year old imagination
trained each week in miracles.

It made perfect sense to me.
